What exactly are dentures?

Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth, designed to look and function like your natural teeth and surrounding gum tissues. They are typically made from a high-strength, durable acrylic material. With proper care, this material is unlikely to stain or darken, maintaining a fresh and natural appearance for many years.

The different

Types of dentures

At Floss and Smile we offer three different types of dentures: complete dentures, partial dentures and implant supported dentures.

Complete dentures

Complete dentures, also known as "conventional" dentures, replace all teeth and rest on the gums covering the jawbones. Their stability and retention can be improved by attaching them to dental implants. Candidates for complete dentures have lost most or all of their teeth and can have a full denture on the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both.

Partial dentures

Partial dentures replace some, but not all, teeth. They attach to remaining teeth and rest on the gums and bone where teeth are missing. Dental implants can stabilise partial dentures. These dentures prevent other teeth from shifting and are suitable for those with some natural teeth remaining.

Your dentist will discuss all your options with you at your initial consultation, providing you with a personalised treatment plan to help restore confidence in your smile.

“What a positive experience I have just had at this wonderful practice. I am (was) terrified of the dentist and Alpa, the dentist, has given me the confidence to go to her practice without my usual exceptionally high level of anxiety. Highly professional, wonderfully re-assuring and altogether not like any other dentist I have visited. I can highly recommend. 10 out of 10!”
