Meet the Floss and Smile team

Dr Alpa Johar is passionate about sharing the message that oral health is vital to overall well being. Like the whole Floss and Smile team, she is dedicated to providing exceptional dental care while demonstrating how simple tools and habits can significantly improve quality of life for patients of all ages.

Alpa graduated from the University of Oslo, Norway, in 1997 with a degree in Cand. Odont. She has since earned multiple qualifications, including a PGCert in advanced cosmetic dentistry and smile makeovers, Invisalign certification, Bioclear matrix certification, and a PGCert in Dental Implantology from Cambridge and the prestigious Trinium Colleges in São Paulo, Brazil. In addition to her dental expertise, Alpa became a qualified Ayurvedic Lifestyle and Nutrition Consultant in 2019.

With decades of experience, Alpa has a particular interest in treating nervous patients and providing smile enhancement treatments. She leads a compassionate, professional team focused on delivering a comprehensive and inclusive approach to dental health, helping patients feel and look their best. The numerous positive reviews left by her patients speak volumes about her care and dedication.

Born in Norway and mostly raised in Milton Keynes, Dr Invir Singh Johar qualified in dentistry from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, in 2022 after five years of training.

At Floss and Smile, Invir works in general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, composite bonding, teeth whitening, and aligners. He’s passionate about providing great care and showing empathy while delivering fantastic clinical and aesthetic results.

One of his favourite parts of the job is helping nervous patients overcome their fears of the dentist. With a lot of patience and understanding, he takes pride in turning anxious patients into happy ones, sending them home with bright, confident smiles. Invir is great at explaining the different treatment options, making sure his patients feel informed and comfortable throughout their dental journey.

When not at work, he loves spending time with his Golden Retriever, Sandy, and keeping active with football and squash.

Dr Nikhil Joshi qualified in 2017 from Barts & The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, London, United Kingdom, and has seven years of experience in dentistry. He’s worked at Nottingham University Hospitals, Ashford & St Peters, and St George’s University Hospital, picking up valuable skills as a dental care trainee. Nikhil also teaches as a Clinical Tutor and Lecturer at King’s College and Guy's Hospital, where he shares his knowledge with up-and-coming dental professionals.

At Floss and Smile, he focuses on surgical dentistry and dental implants, and he’s great at putting patients at ease during their treatments. Nikhil loves meeting new patients and the hands-on side of his work.

Outside of dentistry, Nikhil is a dedicated Manchester United fan and enjoys playing football and tennis. A family man at heart, he recently celebrated his marriage.

Dr Rabia is a friendly and compassionate dentist. She is experienced in treating both nervous patients and those with complex medical histories. She ensures every appointment is supportive, thorough, and tailored to her patients needs. Rabia offers IV sedation to help relax those who feel particularly nervous about dental treatment. Her calm approach and clear communication help patients feel at ease throughout their visit.

Rabia is passionate about Oral surgery. She worked for two years working in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as a Senior House Officer (SHO), where she gained extensive experience in:

• Surgical tooth extractions

• Managing patients with complex medical conditions

• Diagnosing and assessing oral pathology

• Treating acute dental and facial conditions in hospital settings.

To further develop her skills, Rabia completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Oral Surgery (University of Bristol) and the Manchester IV Sedation Course.

Rabia has completed the Aspire Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry Course, where she advanced her skills in modern cosmetic and restorative techniques, such as whitening , crowns and composite bonding . Rabia has also completed training in Invisalign Go, offering clear aligner treatment for patients looking to straighten their teeth discreetly.

Rabia’s goal is always to create a comfortable, judgement-free environment where patients feel listened to and confident about their dental care.

Outside of dentistry, Rabia is a keen oil painter. She loves hiking, pilates and relaxing spa days.

Dr Syed Najid Hussain graduated from Cardiff University, United Kingdom, in 2018 and is a senior house officer in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Royal Free Hospital Trust in London. He holds a Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, as well as a Diploma in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry.

At Floss and Smile, Syed is involved in general dentistry, smile makeovers, aligners, veneers, composite bonding, and cosmetic dentures. He plays a key role in every step of the patient journey, from building rapport and conducting examinations to discussing treatment options and planning.

Syed excels at communication, making it easy for patients to understand their options and ensuring they have the best experience possible. He loves meeting new patients and finds joy in helping them enjoy their dental visits, especially when he sees the confidence boost that comes from a smile transformation.

Community work and charity are important to Syed, and he also enjoys hiking, playing football, and travelling. In his downtime, he loves watching movies - he’s seen his favourite series, The Lord of the Rings, over 50 times and would love to give one of the goblins a smile makeover!

Dr Agnes Denes graduated from Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary, in 2005 and has been passionate about general dentistry, paediatric dentistry, and gum health ever since.

She believes in a holistic approach to dental care and emphasises the importance of good dental health for overall well being. What Agnes enjoys most about her work is connecting with her patients.

When she's not in the practice, she volunteers with the Luton Sea Cadets. In her downtime, Agnes loves sailing, biking, and getting creative with crafts like sewing, knitting, and crochet.

With four years of experience in dentistry, Billie-Jo qualified as a dental nurse in 2020. She holds an NEBDN Certificate in Dental Radiography, a Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support, and a Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Customer Service.

At Floss and Smile, she gets involved in everything from general dental care to oral surgery, root canal treatments, aligners, and implants. As a patient advocate, Billie-Jo supports patients before, during, and after their treatments, ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. With her keen attention to detail, she stays calm under pressure and keeps everything organised. She especially loves helping patients overcome their fear of the dentist.

An animal lover at heart, Billie-Jo fosters cats for Cats Protection. She recently got married and stays active through motorbiking, running, and snowboarding.

Helisha Gurung qualified in 2022 with a National Diploma in Dental Nursing and is a vital part of the Floss and Smile team. She supports the dentists in all areas of patient care, from routine check-ups to fillings, dentures, and composite bonding. Her role includes prepping the treatment room, making sure all the materials and equipment are ready, providing patient care and support, assisting the dentist, and keeping records.

Helisha’s caring and reassuring nature helps patients feel comfortable and at ease throughout their treatments, and she loves this aspect of her job, ensuring that dental care is delivered in a safe and hygienic environment.

Born and raised in Nepal, Helisha is passionate about supporting various Nepalese community charities. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, dancing, and spending quality time with her family.
