dental health check-up
We take the time to thoroughly examine your mouth, teeth and gums, take any necessary X-rays, screen for oral health concerns, and build a bespoke treatment plan tailored to you. New patient appointments last 60–75 minutes; routine examinations 30–45 minutes.

Prevention is better than the cure! One of the most important things we do on a dental health check is an oral cancer screening. Your lymph nodes, tongue, cheeks and lips, palate and all soft tissues are checked thoroughly. We check your gums in detail and give you tools and advice to prevent gum disease. Your teeth are assessed and a plan is made to keep the mouth functional and healthy.
We’ll take X-rays if necessary to diagnose any problems that are not visible to the naked eye e.g. beneath a filling, between your teeth, the bone and supportive structures.
We’ll discuss the findings of your dental health check with you, explaining your treatment options should any be needed. We can also discuss costs, finance options and provide tips on caring for your dental health at home between appointments to help keep your teeth and gums in great condition!
If you have any concerns regarding your dental health, let your dentist know before their assessment. They’ll happily answer any questions you have too, so that you leave Floss and Smile with confidence in your ongoing dental health.

Are dental implants safe?
Yes, dental implants are considered a safe and effective treatment option for replacing missing teeth. At Floss and Smile, our dentists have a special interest in dental implant surgery and have restored hundreds of smiles over the years, using gold standard implants.
How long does it take to get dental implants?
The journey to receiving dental implants varies based on personal factors like oral health, potential need for procedures such as bone grafting, and the body's healing response. Typically, from the first consultation to achieving a complete restoration, the process spans several months. This period allows for the implant to fuse securely with the jawbone (known as osseointegration), a critical phase lasting approximately 3 to 6 months.
